Women are the fastest growing

prison population in the U.S.

Deborah works both freelance and as a collaborator with nonprofits, agencies, and community organizations to provide meaningful programming inside prisons.

She is slo founder of the unPrison Project working to build capacity for people in prisons with life skills, cultivating critical thinking, and developing plans for life after prison. This includes offering suggestions and ways to stay connected to their children.

To date, her work has reached more than 10% of the total female prison population in the U.S., over 35,000 women, men, and youth, and continues to bring needed public awareness to the growing issue of mass incarceration.

VOICES DISCARDED

People in prison are 300% more likely to die from COVID-19.

Voices Discarded takes an eco-social look at the link between the discarded face-masks seen throughout the pandemic, and people living in the margins, in prisons, who are discarded and tossed out of society.

Through the images and real-life quotes used in this project, Deborah hopes to spark conversation about our collective responsibilities to each other, especially the most marginalized in society.
